In this troubled time of social and environmental break down, it is more important than ever to slow down, open our eyes, and be present. Join us for a day of finding beauty and human connection with our neighbours at Our Place. Renowned artist and Morning Altars creator Day Schildkret will be teaching us a practice for blending art and nature to find a sense of belonging.
We will gather at Our Place in the chapel for an introduction to the practice with Day. He will guide us in the steps to create personal earth altars. We will have a free lunch along with the rest of the community at Our Place. Afterwards we will go foraging for natural materials in Beacon Hill Park, and return to Our Place to make our earth altars on the grassy boulevard—Harris Green Park—in front of Our Place.
This event is for you if:
You are longing for a simple way to connect with nature and honour Earth.
You have wondered how to bridge the gap between yourself and your homeless neighbours in Victoria.
You have been wanting to do something more personal, in addition to making donations to Our Place.
You don’t think of yourself as an artist.
You do think of yourself as an artist!
Let’s break out of our segregated social roles for a day by creating beauty and joy together in the warmth of a June day in our beloved city of Victoria.
This event is a collaboration between The Base Healing Community and Our Place.
